|"The 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 27th Infantry Regiment (Wolfhounds), 25th Infantry Division |
have served several deployments to Iraq. The Rear Detachments from both units remaining at
Schofield provide family support services and conduct memorial services at Schofield Barracks
to honor those Soldiers who have fallen in battle.
In this most recent deployment from Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, the 1st Battalion recently lost four soldiers.
Memorial services were held for two of the Soldiers at the Schofield base chapel
on October 29th, 2010. SSG Phillip Jenkins and PFC James McClamrock,
both from B Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry, and their families were honored
by the unit. Piper Mike Hudgins performed at the service at the request
of the unit and families.
In the photo, Mike has just marched back from the front of the chapel playing "Amazing Grace."
Mike, a U.S. Navy veteran, has performed for many of the Schofield memorial services representing
the Celtic Pipes and Drums of Hawaii. Other members of the Celtic Pipes and Drums
have also performed at other memorial services and post-deployment ceremonies for both the Army and Marines.
